A heated wireless vest is a gear necessity
« on: October 17, 2006, 08:56:48 PM »
I think I would use this both off and on the bike:

I'm always cold, particularly at night classes.  April, is this the vest you were mentioning to me?

Thats the one.

Did you order it yet? ;D The extra battery pack is a great bonus as well. It goes well beyond the bike for usefulness.
I need the sunshine in the morning, I'm heading for the open road.

Definitely not a device for a multiple day iron butt ride, but incredibly handy for the daily jaunt.  I think it's really cool!

That would be great for riding and for wearing at work, since they like to keep it ice cold where i work

Quote from an earlier topic:

Besides, I'm a reformed Gear What-ever-you-said  Wink.  I'm willing to admit that I had a problem in the past and that I have enough motorcycle gear. So, no more helmets, gloves, jackets or boots unless I truly, truly need them. Cheesy  Really!

Guess who said these profound words ??? ??? ???

But see, there's an exception......a wireless heated vest is something I "truly, truly need."  Don't I April?  Owen?  Anybody?

I know someone who just received this vest.  ;)  She thinks the vest looks nice and functions well.  It has a lot of great features for a wireless heated vest in the $200 range.  The bonus battery is also a plus.  There are two things I, I mean she, wanted  to mention.  First, sizing is indeed on the generous side so go smaller if you're between sizes.  Also, the instructions say to only run the vest continuously for one hour.  Then you need to turn off the vest for 15 minutes.  She's frequently cold so hopefully this won't be a problem on longer trips.  :-\

I could have used it this morning.  It's 41 degrees right now here in Connecticut.

They're not so bad after you wash them a bunch of times.  Besides, it's super warm, and no batteries reguired.  I just don't like all the static electricity that it builds.  Either way, it's a cheap alternative for people on a budget (me).
