Recommended Bike Shops

For those in the San Gabriel Valley, own a sport bike and need service performed on their bike, I highly recommend 2 Wheel Tuning in Arcadia.

I had my 1000 mile service performed at Temple City Power Sports. At the time, I was mostly satisfied. As I rode more afterwards, small things began to bother me. They were sloppy with the chain lube though I believe they used chain wax. A good deal of the lube ended up all over my bike. The throttle had a severe amount of play that I later tightened up on my own. My gas mileage went south. I found that when I twisted the throttle full, my bike would bog and then surge. Service took all day at a cost of $160.

At 3000 miles, I took my bike to 2 Wheel Tuning. I was given an estimate on labor of 1 hour. I sat in the waiting room and watched a motorcycle dvd while Chad (Service Manager) worked on my bike. He adusted the throttle free play on my bike and did the basic service which is mostly a safety check: steering head, chain clean and lube, tire pressure, oil level, electrial check. However, he also noticed that my bike was running extremely rich. He commented about something being six turns out which is extreme and unheard of so he did a minor carb adjustment. I like that he went over the service he performed on my bike with me. The bike rides so much better! All previous ailments have disappeared. Total cost = $72.

Lets hear your recommendations and horror stories.

I have read that LA CYcle Sports has great OTD prices on their bikes.

But yes, I believe 2 Wheel Tuning could perform the service you need done. I also believe they use Motul oil which is highly regarded.

I'm still debating if I will get 4000 miles service at Stealer or do it myself. I probably have to shade some bucks ($90.00 :'() to get it done at stealer since I don't own any tools.

Right now I put like 1,000 miles / month, I might have to drive my cage more since it will cost only $10-15 to get oil change. :P

If the 4000 mile service for your bike is just an oil and filter change (consult your owner's manual), then it is very easy to do yourself.

Edit: For the $90, you will have enough money to buy the oil and filter and any tools you need for the oil change.
