Splitting lanes
« on: November 24, 2005, 03:12:37 PM »
What traffic jam is right.  How did this guy get such a wide berth to drive down the middle like this?  I have never split lanes partly because it always look so narrow.

Holy cow!  A civic could split through there!!!

I think it really depends on the freeway richard.  Some seem to feel much narrower than others.  I almost NEVER split on the 101 North. It feels like im constantly being squeezed.   However, I have split on the 10 and 5 much more frequently because they feel more open.

I think it also partly depends on bike too.  Undoubtedly my bike is a little skinnier than yours, and they may contribute to it as well

I am feeding the Yamaha only low calorie gas and exercising it regularly in hopes of slimming it down, but so far nothing seems to be working.  I am hoping we don't have to resort to mechanosuction, it's like liposuction, just uses a hammer and grinder.

Did a run up to Palmdale area today on the 210 to the 14, stopped at Acton Rd. Hit reserve at 105 miles on the trip meter.  First time I ever switched to reserve while going over 60 mph. 189 miles round trip, averaged 31 mpg going and 43 mpg coming back.  It was uphill going and downhill on the way back.  No splitting lanes and luckily did not go into a lane to my right too fast as a car whipped around on my right doing about 85, I was going about 70 mph as I started to ease to my right, that gave me a moment of reflection.
