I fell...
« on: January 07, 2005, 09:41:38 AM »
:'( I knew it would happen sooner or later.

I'm fine but upset that my bike isn't so pretty anymore...hahahahahaa. On my commute, there's a giant pot hole that spans nearly the entire roadway that's been patched. Earlier this week, I just rode over it. On Wednesday I decided to ride around it.
Next thing I know my rear tire is fish tailing as I dip to the right and then left to go around the pothole. I find myself separated from my bike, lying on the ground, and watching my bike spark merrily down the road.

When I walk back to where it happened, I see loose asphalt and dirt.

The damage:

my pride
fairing rash
ripped the hand brake clean off
sheared off the foot brake
cracked my brand new windshield
scratched the hell out of my right muffler and bar end

Gear wise I'm great. The Darien's look great. The jacket looks perfect. There was some wear to my right glove but they "held" up and are reusable.

Oh man--that sucks.
OK, the gear held up great, the bike is pretty easily fixed--now how are you? I hope you feel better and don't let it get you down.
I need the sunshine in the morning, I'm heading for the open road.

Hope you are ok! you will be sore for sure.
If your helmet took a hit get a new one.
I have heard those Darien's are worth every cent. All the Iron Butt guys have that, or the full suit by the same maker.

Sorry to hear.  :-[

Hope that you are doing OK.  The bike is easier to repair than yourself.
I'm not totally useless; I can be used as a bad example.

I'm not your type.  I'm not inflatable.

Therapy is expensive. Popping bubble wrap is cheap. You choose.

Oh April what a shame.  Darn, those things can happen so fast!!!  With all this rain I am seeing more and more potholes and repaired areas that look pretty scary, plus all this darn gravel that is washing all over the road.  While I am driving over all of those I keep thinking.......Now what would I do if I was on the bike??

The bike is easy enough to fix (how well I know) but getting over the fear of doing it again sometime is much harder I found.  Just take it easy when your bike gets repaired...........that is what I am going to do when it finally starts warming up and quits raining.  Good luck to you and remember your not the only one who has done it.

I appreciate the concern. Not a scratch or bruise on me. But I find myself a little lighter...

Sorry to hear this Tony.  So glad you're safe.  Did the rain contribute to the problem?
Do you like mochi?

Nope, the road was dry. I think the contributing factors were the poor lighting and the unseen loose road gravel.

Sorry to hear about your accident, but glad that you are ok!  I know how you feel.  And it sucks that the plastics for our cheap little bikes are so expensive. :-/

Oh good, Thought I missed something. 2 MOs down in one week would be too many. Glad April and the Duc are OK.
