NEED A NEW NAME
« on: January 06, 2005, 12:07:33 PM »
"Ride to eat/Eat To Ride"  Is this a title for a cooking show for motorcycle riders?
Some samples for upcoming discussion topics:

How to mix a salad while riding your motorcycle through the box at MSF class.

or

Using the right condiments to clean excess oil from the chain on your Honda.

How a turkey baster can create extra thrills for your passenger while riding through the canyon.

Slow Cooking a meatloaf by placing it in a saddlebag next to the muffler!

Is there such a thing as low calorie lard and can it be used as lubricant on the front forks of your Yamaha?

How to cook a chicken by placing it between the motor and down tube on your Harley.

How to steam vegetables by rerouting your radiator pipe on water cooled bikes.

Maybe someone is in love with the name of this forum, but I think this site could use a better name.  It would broaden the appeal and open it to more of the old gang from BeginnerBikes.  Right now a number of the old members from BB seem to be struggling to find and create a new forum and this one is up and running and it really works!  It just needs to be more accessible or is that not a goal of this organization?  Just a thought.

By the way maybe we can share some exciting recipies for making windshield goulash.

Dear twtdc,
I regret to inform you that the ship and the joke may have sailed without you.  ;)
Our patch is a play on the Ride to live live to ride mantra of so many hardcore bikers, see and here's the funny part , our name is the Mild Ones not the.......you guessed it  Wild Ones  ;D ;D ;D ;D Well it was funny when we thought it up.Besides the Name of the fourm is SoCal Mild Ones Forum  As in "Welcome to the SoCal Mild Ones Forum" at the top of the home page. The patch is a link to our website.

Anyone is welcome to post here. If our patch puts people off, they just don't get it.

Bob

P.S I would like to discuss some of those tasty dishes with you on some future ride.  ;)

Back when I was in college, we have eaten fish cooked by wrapping it in aluminum foil and letting the hot dish washer water cook it.  I think this might also work by replacing the dishwasher with the radiator...... maybe we should try it out on our next ride ;D  Fresh cooked snacks at every stop!

edit: Yes, like flstc2003 said, this is a Mild Ones forum, but the rest of the BB members are more than welcome to use this as a refuge while we figure out what's gonna happen with the BB forum.

I still don't get the ride to eat eat to ride bit, but, that's OK.  I don't get a lot of things anyway.  I think this is a great site, but it definitely is narrow in scope as most of the other BBer's are over at the Delphi forum arguing over every weird detail you can think of.

Since the weather has been so bad, I have not been out learning more riding technique, so I really have no questions, but I have been working on some new recipies.

Our topic for today is how to use simple ingredients and Bisquick to make form fitting body armor to insert in your pants.  It should be a fun topic even for hardcore bikers.

The mildones are notoriously hungry, this the eating aspect.

Mmmm... hungry.....

edit: except for Peter who doesn't believe in food and should probably eat more so I don't have to have breakfast AND lunch in bar form

Ride to eat/Eat to ride while being a play on the Harley saying also is because all rides seem to involve food. Newcombs Ranch on ACH, Rock Store on Mulholland, Neptunes Net on PCH, Hells Kitchen on Ortega and the list goes on. Its over meals where the true bonding comes in.
I need the sunshine in the morning, I'm heading for the open road.

titanicwtd~ I have had Bisquick in my pants on several occasions. Both cooked and uncooked and unless some sort of stiffening agent is used there will be very little protection afforded  the wearer. You might as well have Jell-O in your pants, which I have, on several occasions as well. ::)

zerog~ under what sort of pressing need would you cook a fish in a dishwasher? Doesn't the soap get into the fillets and ruin the taste. Not to mention scales on all your glasses. ;)

Richard.........you are a very funny guy!!!  I love a good dry sense of humor.  This is by far one of the funniest threads I have ever read..........ok so it doesn't take much to amuse me  ;D  Keep it up, we need a few chuckles after what went down.

I'm not sure I really want to know about this.  There maybe a web forum more suited to this particular problem.  Possibly a link under the Dr. Phil website.  I think admitting the problem is the first step to finding a cure, however.  Your response really gave me a chuckle!

Well, there was that ride where I reduced sugar cookies to cookie crumbs by strapping the box to the tail rack....

You are looking at it all wrong.  You should be thinking "clean fish" and "decorative glasses". ;D  I think it was because someone found some recipe on cooking fish in the dishwasher, so we wanted to see if it works.  So when we tried it, there was no dishes or soap in there.  So, we have tested that you can cook fish in the dish washer.  Now, we need someone to test if the aluminum foil will keep soap out and fish in  ;)

This really opens a whole new set of topics: helpful cooking & household hints for motorcycle riders:

One new topic could be:
How to dry out your underwear by pinning it to the spokes on your motorcycle while you roll down the highway, after youv'e been caught out in the rain.

I don't think enough thought has gone into using a motorcycle as a useful household appliance.  I'm sure there are more.

This thread is hilarious!!!  Thanks for the laughs everyone!!

Although, dare I admit it, I do have a reciepe for broasting potatoes using a car engine.  Acutally, the same reciepe works over a camp fire too!!   :)
I'm not totally useless; I can be used as a bad example.

I'm not your type.  I'm not inflatable.

As I've mentioned to a few MOs I don't wear underwear when riding, I find it is too hard to get the Jell-O out of them after a long day in the saddle. Commando style is the only way to ride.
I have however, when much younger, duck taped 2 cans of beer to the front wheel of my enduro drove the 20 miles to the local free fire zone and shot them with a Mini-14.

They blew up real good.
