« on: August 03, 2009, 09:02:16 PM »
Mark and I are officially signed up for Friday 10/2 at Streets of Willow w/ Trackdaz.  Anyone else coming out?  Now I just gotta wait until the Q2s are available for purchase.

So, is this a good option for my first track day, or should I wait for another track/organization?  Looks like there are plenty of group "C" spots available at the moment...cheap enough...but I don't know whether this is a good first trackday option.

So let me know what you think!  ;)

I think it'll be just fine for a first track day.  In fact, most of us had our first track day with Trackdaz at Streets of Willow a few years ago.  They're very cool and will be more than willing to show you around the track and give you some pointers.  I think you should do it!

I was seriously planning to do this track day...but then I realized our churches' ministers conference is a week later than normal this year and ends on that Friday in MISSOURI!  So I guess I'll have to wait for another one...we have gone to the conference the last 9 or 10 years so we hate to miss.  :'( (but I sure wanted to do this trackday)

That's too bad Jon!   :(   I definitely want to get another one in before the year ends so please feel free to join us for that one.

I want to get in another one before the end of the year too.  I'll go with whichever one more people want to attend.  I also have a space in my truck for anyone that needs it.  I just need to borrow a ramp and junk like all the other times.

Haha nice Jim!  I don't plan on needing Vega power for this one.   ;)

The bike's all packed into the van and ready to rock.  As usual, I have so much crap (tools, sunshade, grill, rearstand, tools, chairs, tools, etc.) that it'll be a miracle if we can fit Ray's bike, gear and cooler into this gigantic cargo van.   ;D

Yeah, Jim your comment occurred to me as well.  I forgot to break Ray's balls earlier tonight when I spoke to him.  I'll get him early tomorrow morning instead.   :P

See you there Jim!  We've got a chair and food for you.   :)

Haha I packed my boots and everything else, I'm good!  Picked up the bike from Robert and can't wait to test it out on the track.

Best track day ever!!!  Haha okay maybe not the BTDE but it was a damn good one.  It was sunny but not too hot, Mark had a new toy to play with, I had many rebuilt/new parts, Jim came to hang out, we had food and nobody forgot boots this time.  Thanks Mark for renting the van and driving.  Jim, it's always good to hang out with you.  One thing's for sure, my muscles are sore this morning.

I have to say the rebuilt suspension was by far the best money I've spent on the bike.  Best money spent on bike parts ever!!!  ;D  The shock actually compresses now and makes a huge difference.  I can carry more corner speed without putting so much stress on the tires and I got my knee down in places I hadn't before.  Robert did a great job with the ss brake lines; the brakes were firm but easy to modulate and consistent all day.  The new BT-003 RS tires were very good.  I didn't push them hard enough to induce any big slides but they're definitely the best street/track tire I've used so far.

Here are some pics I took:

Mark at the end of the day

Another one of Mark toward the end

Mark's rear tire (Pirelli Diablo Corsa III)

Ray's rear tire (Bridgestone BT-003 RS)

Ray's front tire (the rebuilt suspension is finally letting me use all of it)

Here are some pics I took of the A group riders w/ my new lens.  It's nothing compared to what the pros use and I couldn't get the shutter speeds I wanted, but for a consumer lens it ain't bad.
