Sunday 2/13 - Location TBD
« on: February 06, 2005, 07:42:37 AM »
Hey guys, putting out a feeler.  Won't be able to make the maintenance day as I'll be at the USA Rugby 7 Man tourny at the home depot center.

Would anyone be interested in riding on Sunday?

Ian and I talked yesterday about hitting Malibu again because we had such a phenomenal run.   That is a possibility.

Another option would be to find a big parking lot, set up cones, and do a BRC refresher / practice session for Battletrax.   I'd be open for anything. Let me know what you think!

i'm not sure i can make it, but i would suggest, as an alternative, that we close off the 110 and reenact the cool ducati scenes from matrix reloaded

april?  i assume you would be interested

Maybe the Ojai run Peter is always mentioning?  Oh, nevermind.  I just remembered another commitment.

Why don't we do both or all. First ride to somewhere (malibu is okay), then find some parking lot where we can pratice and after that ride to eat.

I'd be up for Sunday.  I'm new to the area, and new to this forum, so I have no idea where anything is.  But you tell me when and where, I'll find it and I'll be there.

But be forewarned, I've only been riding the canyons for a couple of weekends now, so I would definitely be  the slow one of the bunch.

Just don't make it too early in the morning.  I might have a hot date Saturday night.  Hubba, hubba!  :-)

Good deal, looks like we got a group forming up.

I'm thinking Malibu canyons, should be a good ride.   Moto - what do you ride again?

And don't worry about your skill level, Ian and I aren't knee draggers or anything.

I gots me a somewhat banged up EX500.  Unfortunately I dropped it trying to load it on my move.  :-(  But it runs just fine.  Only cosmetic damage.

What?  No knee dragging?  Forget it!  :-)

Actually, I've been quite surprised.  I've only seen one guy dragging a knee so far.  Everyone else has seemed to be pretty controlled.  That's a good thing.

Well just wanted to update this.... Seemed kind of silly to have a ride on Sunday when there's already one planned.    In somewhat of a "perfect storm" phenomena, there seems to be a southern california wide sportbike forums combination ride.

Basically the gstwins.com (mainly GS500), socalsvriders.org (SV / SVS), and sportbikers.net groups are all going to be meeting up Sunday morning for a trip up to Malibu.

I'm not sure I'm going yet, but if I do go riding thats where I'll be.  If anyone wants the info let me know.

yeah, it's set for 9:30am at the Chevron on PCH, not far north from where the 10 hits PCH.

I read the posts on the other 3 boards, and am not up for a huge outing.  But I do plan to show up, see what's up, and probably push for a smaller group that's more appropriate to my level if there's too many people and/or high-revving sport bike action.

Half the people going from the gs site and the sv site seem to be stating that they go slower and safer and plan to be at the back of the pack taking it easy.  I'll be riding with these folks.

Likewise.  Plus, my tank can't handle 120 miles of canyons ;)

I'm not up for a giant group ride. Might do Malibu anyway but I'll skip the big group
I need the sunshine in the morning, I'm heading for the open road.

Ho well !!! Sport bike and Cruiser ???. I'm not going then, beside it might still wet from the rain over the weekend. I might just hit Jenks Lake for relaxing time on my cage (GO GO FISHING  :P). This is going to be suck big time due to I won't be able to ride for 2 weekends. :'(

BTW have fun guys,

From GSTwins:

Quote

I hope to make one big loop taking in all the canyons (or most anyway) and ending at the Canyon Rustic Market (name?) for tasty tri-tip sandwiches...then to the Rock Store around the corner.

I expect to do this route:
Up Las Flores to Piuma
Down Piuma
Swing around to base of Stunt and up Stunt
To saddle ridge then down Tuna Cyn to PCH.
Up PCH to latigo, right on Kanan, left on Mulholland to PCH
Down PCH to either Encinal or Decker back up to Mulholland
then we'll wing it from there depending on how much time we have to lunch...
